Thompson/Center Sponsors 2016 Wyoming Womens Antelope Hunt

Thompson/Center® Sponsors 2016 Wyoming Women's Antelope Hunt

Laramie, WY (May 24, 2016) – Thompson/Center Arms, part of the Smith & Wesson Family, has signed on as a platinum-level sponsor for the 2016 Wyoming Women's Antelope Hunt. Since 1967, Thompson/Center Arms has been outfitting hunters with American-made firearms that stand up in the toughest situations and perform when it counts.

Thompson/Center and Smith & Wesson have sponsored the hunt, the first of its kind in the nation, since its creation by the Wyoming Women's Foundation in 2013. The hunt, to be held Oct. 6-9, 2016, will bring together 40 female hunters from across the nation at the Ranch at Ucross in northeast Wyoming for a weekend of hunting, mentorship and camaraderie, as well as raising funds and awareness for the Wyoming Women's Foundation. Women hunters can secure one of the 40 spots on the hunt and learn about available scholarships at www.wyomingwomensantelopehunt.org.

"We at Thompson/Center are proud to be able to sponsor and stand behind this all-women antelope hunt," said Danielle Sanville, Thompson/Center Arms Brand Manager. "Hunting is a long-standing American tradition and this event mentors women in developing a skill that can help them feed their families and become more self-sufficient."

"We are thankful for Thompson/Center and Smith & Wesson's continued sponsorship of the hunt," said Marilyn Kite, retired Wyoming Supreme Court Justice and co-founder of the hunt. "Since its start in 2013, the Wyoming Women's Antelope Hunt has been able to help more women grow their hunting skills through mentorship."

So far the annual event has raised more than $200,000 for grants and special projects to help women and girls across Wyoming. Special guest hunters have included retired Wyoming Supreme Court Justice Marilyn Kite, Wyoming State Superintendent Jillian Balow, Jana Waller from "Skull Bound TV" on the Sportsman Channel, Women's Outdoor News (WON) Editor Barbara Baird, 2013 Ms. Wheelchair USA Ashlee Lundvall, and Julie Golob, captain of Smith & Wesson's highly successful shooting team. Of the 40 total hunters in 2015, 36 harvested antelope, 11 for the first time.
