Team Beglin/Gobbett Wins IFA Redfish Tour Event at Georgetown, South Carolina

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – Rob Beglin, of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, and Eric Gobbett, of Georgetown, South Carolina, weighed a two-fish limit that totaled 8.03 pounds to win the final regular-season event for the Atlantic Division of the IFA Redfish Tour presented by Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s on July 20, at Georgetown, South Carolina. The team won a fully rigged Ranger RB190 boat prize package powered by a 90-horsepower, four-stroke Mercury outboard.

After fishing the IFA Redfish Tour for more than 10 years, the duo finally notched their first win. The team ran 90 miles total to fish south of Georgetown with Berkley Gulp!. In addition to the fully rigged Ranger boat, the anglers added $2,205 in Anglers Advantage cash for a total of $29,205 in total winnings.

Second-place finishers Hank Edwards, of Darlington, South Carolina, and Ian Matthews, of Effingham, South Carolina, weighed a total of 7.93 pounds. The team ran to fish the Georgetown area with Berkley Gulp! shrimp. In total, the team took home $3,522 in winnings.

Clay Gallup and Mark Gallup weighed 7.85 pounds to take third place and $2,317 in winnings. Expecting hot and windy conditions, the team knew the fishing would be tough.

“Fishing was probably better than I thought it would be,” said Clay Gallup.

The duo threw bright colored Berkley Gulp! shrimp and curly tails in the Georgetown area.

“We worked well today,” said Clay Gallup. “We had a plan and we stuck to it and it worked out great.”

Eighth-place finishers Anderson Jones and Clay Jones caught a 4.50-pound lunker on a Berkley Gulp! bait and put it in the boat with his PENN Fierce II 3000 reel. The team’s fish won the $500 Berkley Big Redfish award, along with $250 credit to the Berkley website, and $1,000 in PENN products.

The next stop for the IFA Redfish Tour is set for Houma, Louisiana, on July 27. Teams that compete in at least two regular-season events will be qualified for the 2019 IFA Redfish Tour Championship.
